With the last spell of wintery weather, we decided in nursery it was time to make some vegetable soup.  The children helped to chop up the vegetables using scissors and knives. They learned lots of new vocabulary about the different vegetables that they were chopping. The children really enjoyed taking part in this and the next day we all had some for our snack.  Every child tasted it and some children liked it more than others.

Today we celebrated Safer Internet Day and had lots of fun using our class iPads. We thought about how much time we spend online and decided that maybe it's a bit too long. In class, we played lots of games which we could play at home as an alternative to going online. Using a timer we were able to time how long we spent on the iPads and then move onto a different activity. The children thoroughly enjoyed doing Yoga in class, the link is attached for you to access this at home.

The theme this year was all about 'consent' and having a choice about what is shared online. Believe or not, some Year 1 children knew about posting videos onto Snapchat!! Our children have gone home with a very important message- WE CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU SHARE! Please consider this before posting online. Take a look at what fun we got up to today!

This year the slogan, "Together for a better internet", is a call to action for all stakeholders to join together and play their part in creating a better internet for everyone, and especially for children.  The main message this year is based around consent.

Our whole day was spent learning all about what exactly consent is and how we can be safe online.

We watched videos, played quizzes, created cyber superheroes and made posters.
