After a very miserable week of weather there were a lot of nervous people sending in their steps this week. We were thinking that we wouldn’t have enough to make our million. We were pleasantly surprised when our total steps added to 1,346,886!!! Well done everyone ๐ŸŒŸ

Our star steppers this week are:

1st: Mrs Patterson 150,043 steps

2nd: Anne 130,045 steps

3rd: Laura 106, 109 steps

We would like to thank everyone who has sent in donations so far-it is greatly appreciated. If you would like to send in a donation there is a box in the school porch to post your donation.

We have been talking about the signs of Spring and reading books to find out what we need to look out for. Carrie told us all about the daffodils in her garden and we have learned that they grow from a bulb, which the children thought looks a bit like an onion!

Mrs Kane brought daffodils but they didn’t look very nice to begin with. A few days later and after adding some water to the stems they had opened up, a bright yellow colour appeared and a beautiful sweet scent! Brett brought his own sunny daffodil to school, he thought it best to add it to our collection!

During play we have been busy making spring items, using junk and craft materials the children have made some fantastic pieces. Take a look at what we’ve made so far but do check back for an update soon!

This week we welcomed back our children into the classroom and such fun we had.  The children settled back in so quickly, remembering routines and adapting to life back with their friends.  We are so proud of the fantastic week they had, so we thought they deserved a little treat today.

We had a visit from our local ice-cream man, Mr Whippy, which brought a smile to everyone's face on a Friday morning. Big smiles all round!!

Thank you Mr Whippy

Today at school we had a surprise visit from the ice-cream van. ๐Ÿฆ This was a special treat for our children as they have been working so hard during their first week back at school.

The children were chanting “best day ever!” as they received their treat, albeit in the pouring rain! โ˜”๏ธ

Anne and I have had such an enjoyable week with these amazing children! They have had a very strange start to Primary school but we endeavour to make the next term the most enjoyable yet! ๐Ÿ˜

Have a look at some photographs of our travels to get our steps up and once again a huge THANK YOU to everyone for taking part and for all the donations. I wonder can we beat our score next week???

Today was a very exciting day as we all got back to the classroom after weeks of remote learning. The weather forecast shows a lot of rain for the rest of this week so we decided to go outside for a play together. It was so lovely to have our class back together and we had lots of fun. Well done boys and girls you had a super first day back.

The Staff at Artigarvan PS are taking part in March a Million Challenge for Cancer Focus NI. There are 19 members of staff taking part so we are hoping that together we can do one million steps each week in March. We have paid our £5 each to sign up and will put in £5 each week in March and work hard to get as many steps as we can. Laura has very kindly agreed to donate fudge to the person with the most steps... I wonder who it will be???

Keep an eye each week here for updates on how we are getting on :)

Also if anyone would like to sponsor us, it would be very much appreciated. You can send money into school with your child in an envelope and we will have a box for donations that they can post their envelope in.
