Latest News - Year 3/4

17th Sep 2025
Year 3 have been studying the work of Picasso on a Tuesday afternoon with Mrs Kane. They have recreated a piece of Picasso's work using oil pastels. Their next challenge is to create a self-portrait in the style of Picasso, choosing shapes and colours similar to those in his works. The children were so proud of their creations and are so keen to experiment with different media as the term progresses.

We are very fortunate to have the library van visit our school every two weeks. Children from Year 2-4 can borrow a book to read, what a special treat this is to go onto the van and choose a book. Here is a picture of our Year 2 children borrowing their first book from Denis.

Today we had visitors from Strabane Academy. Emma and Molly helped us learn some new words in Spanish. We were able to ask, “what is your name?” And reply “my name is”. We also learned some colours in Spanish.

Gracias girls and Strabane Academy for a fantastic lesson.

Today our Year 3 & 4 pupils went to Castlerock for their end of year school trip. All 41 children headed off by bus from school this morning and caught the 9.38am train in Londonderry. We arrived in Castlerock and went to a church hall to leave off our belongings and have our snack.
With our waterproof clothing, buckets and spades we headed down to the beach for some fun! We even managed to see a train passing the crossing and have a play in the park before coming home!

And wow, what fun we had!!!! The children were a credit to the school the whole day and showed excellent behaviour.

Every single child had so much fun and I think there will be a few sandy ears tonight!

You all did us proud today, well done boys and girls! 👏 There might be a few tired children today!
