Our term 3 topic is Off we go… so far we’ve been learning about the Artemis moon mission, what it’s like to be an astronaut and we’ve had a go at designing our own space helmets. Following this we discussed different types of transport. Outside, the children did a survey on the traffic passing the school. The most popular vehicle was a car and the children were disappointed that no bikes were spotted during the survey. Next up we will be going on a journey with Mr Gumpy and his car, stayed tuned for more updates!
What a fun week of activities we’ve had in school! Mrs Kane launched the week off in assembly introducing a whole-school challenge where the children had to draw a character to match a specific description. In addition to our drawings, we have been reading with older children in school, ‘rocket readers’- listening to stories, making new friends and sharing new books together. On Thursday we enjoyed dressing up as a character or coming to school in our pyjamas. We took part in an online lesson which was lots of fun! For P.E we had a nursery rhyme hunt, searching for the clues all around school. In our assembly on Friday we celebrated the success of a super week!
P1 have been using the laptops in school this week. The children are doing great at using the track pad to move the cursor around the screen. Tizzy’s toybox was a great game for us to play, tying in with our topic ‘in the toybox’. Over the next few weeks we will be having a go at logging in by ourselves and using the keyboard to type a sentence. 😁
We’ve been so busy rehearsing our Christmas shows this week. Nursery are performing The Wriggly Nativity, P1/2 are singing Christmas Songs and Rhymes and P2/3 and P3/4 are performing A Miracle in Town.
Well done everyone! We are looking forward to your performances next week! You have all worked so hard with your words and songs. You’re all brilliant 🤩
Donna from Sustrans came to talk to us about safe journeys to school. We discussed the dangers on the roads and the hazards we must look for when travelling on foot, by bus, by car or on our bike. We used little roads, signs and vehicles to show a safe journey to school. Thank you Donna!
REMEMBER - Be seen and stay safe!
Everyone looks so well!
We have been doing lots of sorting in class. Questions we think about are: what’s the same, what’s different? This helps us to choose a way to sort the items. The children have been sorting by shape, size and colour.
