In Year 3 and 4 our final topic is 'Let's get growing'. The children would like to learn about how plants, children and animals grow. We will begin by looking at plants. So far, we have named the different parts of plants and are learning what their jobs are. Using our iPads, the children have researched each of the parts and are observing this first hand in class by planting our own cress seeds. To begin with we were a bit confused as to how some seeds grow in different places even though they hadn't been planted by a person. Some of the children had a question they would like to find the answer to which was, 'Do all seeds need soil to grow?' The cress seeds have proven the answer to this question as they can grow on cotton wool so long as they get watered each day, have sunlight and a bit of heat. Be careful not to add too much water though, they might get too soggy and kill the seeds! We have uploaded video blogs about the growth of our cress seeds, check out our videos!
In Year 3 and 4 we have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We have observed our caterpillars changing and have created video blogs each day to create a diary of the different stages of their development. Check out our video blogs, it won't be long until the butterflies emerge from their chrysalides!
Year 2 and 3 have been enjoying our sunny weather. We get outside as much as possible and love to play together - sharing, laughing, helping and having fun!!
To tie in with our new topic we've been busy growing cress seeds in class. Have a look at our video diary where the boys and girls are documenting their findings.
We are also learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. So stay tuned to follow their progress!
To coincide with our topic 'Floodtide of the Heart', the Year 4/5 class took a trip to Baronscourt Estate where they got to explore their creative side with a series of workshops. These included creative Art, writing, drumming and dance. The children had a wonderful day.
We would like to express a huge thank you to all the parents and children who put in a lot of effort to ask friends and family to guess the name of the lamb. We had a winner who guessed the name Willie correctly. This was Aaron Parke, Jasmine's daddy.
The parents managed to raise a massive £370 that will be used to buy nursery furniture. We would like to say a special thank you to Liz our caretaker who very kindly donated the hamper.
Well done to Aaron and the nursery staff wish you all a happy Easter.
The children have been very busy this week making and decorating their eggs for the annual Easter competition.
Once again the children did an amazing job and their creations were fantastic.
Have a look at our gallery which shows the making, judging and winning Easter eggs.
The Year 2/3 class had a visit to a local building site this week.
