Today we got outside for some outdoor play. Firstly we started off with our story time outside. This was a real treat for us. After story time we got very busy!!
We have now got a new stone area to play with our trucks and vehicles and it is has been very popular today. The children also had lots of fun in our sand pit and they were very busy digging in the sunshine. We have 2 playhouses now and the children loved exploring how one house is big and the other one is smaller.
What a super outdoor play session today - we had lots of fun!
We have now skipped for 45 minutes! I am so proud of all the boys and girls and how much dedication and effort they are putting into our wee challenge!
At the start of this challenge some of the boys were very apprehensive and now I have them telling me how much they love skipping!
It helps that we are getting beautiful weather to complete all our skipping ππππ
We have done a total of 30 minutes of skipping now and it’s making us all feel FANTASTIC πππππ
One boy said today that he felt like he was better at it today than he was yesterday πππ
Others even informed me this morning that they practiced at home yesterday evening! Amazing dedication πͺ
And then as if they hadn’t skipped enough I spied them skipping again at lunch! (Check out my sneaky window pictures π΅οΈβοΈ)
Half way there! Stay tuned for all our updates.
We all returned to the classroom before Easter after a long 3 months of remote learning. We were all very excited to return to school, but it can still be very challenging adjusting to ‘normal’ school life again. We talked about the 5 ways to help our mental well-being.
Evidence suggests there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Trying these things could help you feel more positive and able to get the most out of life. One of the five is exercise. Before Easter we decided to take part in an exercise challenge!!!
This week, over the course of 4 days, we will be skipping for one whole hour!
Check out the video and photos from today! Mrs McClelland is joining in too of course but she isn’t half as fit as the Y5/6 boys and girls!
Our challenge will be documented here every day so stay tuned!
This week we have enjoyed many fun Easter activities starting off with listening to the Easter story. After listening to the story about Jesus dying on the cross and being raised to life again we wondered why eggs were such a big part of Easter, eating them, decorating them and even playing hide and seek with them! Did you know that eggs are a sign of new life? We learned lots about how eggs activities come from church leaders not eating eggs during Holy Week and they needed to do something with all of the eggs at home so they decorated them and distributed them to the children.
In school we enjoyed decorating our eggs and creating fantastic scenes which had been extremely well-planned at home. You will see our pictures below of what we have created!
The next day we decorated Easter cards to hang around our houses, we made beautiful eggs using paint and used old cardboard tubes to create a bunny. You won’t believe what happened next! As we hung our Easter bunny up to dry by the window we heard a knock, to our surprise it was the Easter bunny waving us outside, so we followed him! He had hid so many eggs around the school and our job was to find the colour he left for our class. What a busy few days it’s been!
Have a lovely Easter everyone, stay safe!
We are near the end of our challenge now and would firstly like to thank everyone who has sent in money for Cancer Focus NI. This week together we walked 1,648,438 steps π
Star Steppers this week are π:
1st: Anne 145,042 steps
2nd: Mrs Patterson 133,186 steps
3rd: Joanne 128,768 steps
Have a look at some of the photographs from our travels this week. We will do our final March count on Wednesday night π
We were so 'eggcited' today when Thea noticed somebody outside in our playground....THE EASTER BUNNY! We couldn't believe that he came to visit us today and he even left us some treats in our playground. Look at all of these happy faces.
Happy Easter boys and girls :)
Well done to all of the boys and girls for their hard work making their wonderful egg creations. They were all fantastic but we had to choose some winners in each class. Samantha and Cherry from the kitchen had the very difficult job of choosing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class.
Well done to everyone for taking part.
Happy Easter :)
Year 2/3 were very busy this week creating their egg masterpieces. We also loved having a look around the hall at all the other egg creations. Have a look at our photos and see if you can find your child’s egg.
Making the most of the beautiful weather today and making fun memories with our friends β€οΈ
