The children in Year 2/3 have been learning about Spring and growing seeds. In our Musical Pathways last week we had to pretend to be a seed and grow and grow into a beautiful sunflower.
A very suitable book to read this week was “The Enormous Turnip”. The children really enjoyed listening to the story and retelling it in their own words.
Today we saw amazing teamwork in our classroom as we all worked together to create a beautiful display about our story. Have a look to see all the hard work and our finished masterpiece. We are so proud of you Year 2/3 π
Yaayyyy it’s our highest week so far for steps!!!! We managed to get 1,879,065 steps all together π
A huge well done to everyone for taking part and thank you to everyone for their donations. This is our last stretch now...maybe next week we could hit the two million?????
Star Steppers this week are:

2nd: Anne 145,254 steps

Today was a super exciting day as we welcomed back the whole school for the first time since Christmas!
Year 5/6 made the most of the dry weather and played games outside, it was so much fun!
It was really lovely to have everyone together again and we can’t wait to welcome the rest of our class back next week. All the boys and girls have settled back in so well and I am so proud of them all.
Some overheard quotes of the day π:
“I can’t wait to come to school again tomorrow!”
”I can’t choose my favourite part of today”
”it’s been a long 8 months” π
After a very miserable week of weather there were a lot of nervous people sending in their steps this week. We were thinking that we wouldn’t have enough to make our million. We were pleasantly surprised when our total steps added to 1,346,886!!! Well done everyone π
Our star steppers this week are:
1st: Mrs Patterson 150,043 steps
2nd: Anne 130,045 steps
3rd: Laura 106, 109 steps
We would like to thank everyone who has sent in donations so far-it is greatly appreciated. If you would like to send in a donation there is a box in the school porch to post your donation.
Here is a little snapshot of our outdoor play session on Monday. :)
Today the weather had picked up so we finally got outside to play. The children were very excited and we had a wonderful outdoor session with lots of learning opportunities. Enjoy browsing through our photos.
Year 2/3 were delighted with their treat on Friday when the ice cream van arrived. The boys and girls had a brilliant first week back and this little treat was so well deserved. Have a look at all the smiles π
We have been talking about the signs of Spring and reading books to find out what we need to look out for. Carrie told us all about the daffodils in her garden and we have learned that they grow from a bulb, which the children thought looks a bit like an onion!
Mrs Kane brought daffodils but they didn’t look very nice to begin with. A few days later and after adding some water to the stems they had opened up, a bright yellow colour appeared and a beautiful sweet scent! Brett brought his own sunny daffodil to school, he thought it best to add it to our collection!
During play we have been busy making spring items, using junk and craft materials the children have made some fantastic pieces. Take a look at what we’ve made so far but do check back for an update soon!
