This week we welcomed back our children into the classroom and such fun we had. The children settled back in so quickly, remembering routines and adapting to life back with their friends. We are so proud of the fantastic week they had, so we thought they deserved a little treat today.
We had a visit from our local ice-cream man, Mr Whippy, which brought a smile to everyone's face on a Friday morning. Big smiles all round!!
Thank you Mr Whippy
Today at school we had a surprise visit from the ice-cream van. 🍦 This was a special treat for our children as they have been working so hard during their first week back at school.
The children were chanting “best day ever!” as they received their treat, albeit in the pouring rain! ☔️
Anne and I have had such an enjoyable week with these amazing children! They have had a very strange start to Primary school but we endeavour to make the next term the most enjoyable yet! 😁

We were all excited on Sunday night to see how many steps we had clocked up together for our first week of our March a Million Challenge. The number of steps that everyone sent in was AMAZING and our grand total was 1,552,219 steps!
Well done everyone-we will put another £5 each in our donation box. Thank you also to our families who have sent in donations for Cancer Focus NI, it is greatly appreciated.
Our star steppers this week were:
1st: Mrs Patterson 175,225 steps
2nd: Anne 124,016 steps
3rd: Sandra 116,566 steps
Have a look at some photographs of our travels to get our steps up and once again a huge THANK YOU to everyone for taking part and for all the donations. I wonder can we beat our score next week???
Today was a very exciting day as we all got back to the classroom after weeks of remote learning. The weather forecast shows a lot of rain for the rest of this week so we decided to go outside for a play together. It was so lovely to have our class back together and we had lots of fun. Well done boys and girls you had a super first day back.
The Staff at Artigarvan PS are taking part in March a Million Challenge for Cancer Focus NI. There are 19 members of staff taking part so we are hoping that together we can do one million steps each week in March. We have paid our £5 each to sign up and will put in £5 each week in March and work hard to get as many steps as we can. Laura has very kindly agreed to donate fudge to the person with the most steps... I wonder who it will be???
Keep an eye each week here for updates on how we are getting on :)
Also if anyone would like to sponsor us, it would be very much appreciated. You can send money into school with your child in an envelope and we will have a box for donations that they can post their envelope in.
Year 5/6 took part in a little challenge this week. They have all been reading in the most peculiar places!🧐
Check out our video. Looks like they all had a lot of fun 😀
Can I begin by saying how proud we are of our nursery children the past 6 weeks. They were thrown into the world of remote learning and they have excelled themselves.
We are delighted with the dedication and commitment each family have shown to developing their child’s learning.
So well done to the children and also their parents.
Here is a short video to showcase the amazing work they have been getting up to.
Enjoy and thank you 🌟🌟

Our topic this term is called ‘Through the eyes of the child’ 👀👁
Lockdown has not stopped the year 5/6 pupils from working their socks off and getting stuck into this topic.
See for yourselves what we have been learning in the first part of this amazing topic. Enjoy 😊
