Year 5/6 have had a lot of fun over the past few weeks making Viking shields and swords. Once created, pupils were able to write instructions on how they make their pieces in Literacy, before having a mock up ‘Viking raid’. I’m sure you’ll agree that we have some angry looking Vikings in our class!!

Y5/6 have really been enjoying our weekly sessions with Chris.

This programme aims to educate our children on the importance of making healthier food choices and creating active habits.

This week, Chris taught us all about the different food groups and how much we should be eating of each one.  He also had a look in some of our lunchboxes to check we weren’t eating too many sugary foods! He was very impressed with our healthy lunches.

After each lesson, the boys and girls love getting outside to play some football with Chris.

How lucky are we to have such a kind-hearted little girl in our class.  Alex made her own key rings and sold them in school last week.  She made a total of £30 and decided to buy some treats for our class.  Thank you!

This week we have been participating in lots of fun activities to celebrate one of the most exciting days in the school calendar - World Book Day!

Today we came dressed as a book character (or in our pyjamas) and took part in The Great Artigarvan Book Off! Children had to design a cake based on their favourite book.   Winners will be announced tomorrow.

Check out our photos!

Alex made key rings at home and decided she wanted to sell them in school to raise money for school funds. All the key rings had positive affirmations and tied in with our work in school with Action Mental Health. Well done Alex! Maybe you’ll have your own business in years to come!

To mark Children’s mental health week we participated in a fantastic art lesson with Sinead from the Art and Design Factory.  The theme for this year was ‘This is My Place’.  Sinead talked with us about the importance of knowing our own happy place and the importance of showing love to everyone so everyone feels a sense of belonging.

Our artwork is inspired by Friedensreich Hundertwasser who was an Austrian artist and architect who loved bright colours, spirals, and nature, while hating straight lines and boring, grey buildings. He believed buildings should have trees growing on roofs, wavy floors, and no two windows should be the same.

We always look forward to our art lessons with Sinead.  Thank you for a fabulous morning!
