We had Constable Lorraine visit our school today from the PSNI, talking to our KS2 children about some important topics.  Lorraine talked about the importance of not talking with or playing games with strangers online, and not sharing personal details or photos with anyone online.  We also discussed the dangers of carrying prohibited items and how to keep ourselves safe from peer pressure. The children all enjoyed the visit - thank you Lorraine!

As part of our topic, we have been learning all about mummification during ancient Egyptian times.  We used a tomato for our ‘body’ and followed most of the steps for mummification.
1. We washed our body
2. Removed the inside of the tomato (the organs)
3. Covered it in natron salt to preserve.

We will observe how our tomatoes change over time and compare them with a tomato that has not been mummified!

Today completed our Sperrins Partnership project.  Over the last few weeks we have all worked together to write a book all about the Sperrins.  Today we welcomed the Mayor into our class to present us each with a certificate.  Some of the children read the book to the Mayor and he was very impressed.

Thank you to Dearbhaile for facilitating this amazing project and choosing our school to participate.
