Our class have been taking part in mind explorers each week. The children have been learning some breathing techniques using a breathing ball, when the ball pens we take a deep breath in and then closing the ball we breathe out. Using a mirror the children look at their reflection, give themselves a big smile and express something they are thankful for. Lots of the children are thankful for their family members, pets and friends in school. It has been a lovely time for the children to be still and to have a brain break from their busy schedule in school each week. Why not ask your child about the breathing ball, I’m sure they will have lots to tell you!
Wow, look how amazing our book day costumes are! Some of us dressed up as our favourite book characters and some children wore their pyjamas to read a ‘bedtime story’. Each child brought their favourite story which you can see in their photo. We had some really creative costumes using items from home, thank you so much for all of the extra-special efforts put into preparing for these costumes today!
We enjoyed delicious pancakes in class yesterday! Mrs Kane was our chef, we waited patiently for them to cook in the pan, they smelt so good! To make our ‘Gruffalo’ pancakes we added blueberries for the prickles, orange segment for the eyes and a juicy raspberry for the nose. Thankfully they weren’t poisonous as the story suggests! Unfortunately by the time Mrs Kane got it all served out there weren’t many pancakes left to photograph- we-ll take it as a sign that they were really enjoyable! 😂 Did you make pancakes at home?
As part of our world book week activities our class got to enjoy a fabulous session from Debutots. We heard a fairytale mash-up story which taught us all about saying please and than you. The children took part through using actions to retell the story and playing musical statues and acting out parts of the story. at the end of the story the characters all had a party, we joined in by having a bubble party!
We used marshmallows to find out the different ways to make ten. Using chalk, we drew two circles onto the table. We rolled a dice to tell us how many to put into the first circle, we then counted to find out the number pair. What a fun Maths lesson!
We have been learning about instructions in class. We looked at bossy words that tell us what to do and also time words which tell us the order to do them in. After watching Mrs Kane, we used our own instructions to make a hot chocolate, it was delicious!
Roll up roll up, sit back and enjoy year 1 and 2’s Christmas show
We had so much fun on our Autumn walk. As we walked along the footpath we noticed the blackberries at the tops of the hedgerows. Some children thought they were for the giraffes but we eventually came around to the idea of leaving them for the birds. The blackberries were ripe and ready for us to pick as we walked further, we even heard the river flowing beside us. After a steep climb up a hill we spied conkers on the chestnut tree! A few had fallen down so we were able to investigate them.
What a busy morning we had, our wellies came in very handy and the children were glad to have their milk and snack on our return!
Perhaps you could continue the search for signs of Autumn at the weekend, after all, your children are now experts in berry picking and conker spotting!
What a lovely ending to our school year! Have a look at our photos and videos to see what we got up to on our Colour Run. Each class bubble had a turn to go to the pitch and Ronan got everyone warmed up with some Zumba. Next it was time to get colourful as our lovely white t-shirts got covered in coloured powder. Our time at the pitch was finished off by making a colour cloud. Well done boys and girls on making this such a success and a huge thank you for the amazing amount of money you and your families have raised for our school-you are all superstars!!
Today we enjoyed having our favourite bears in class. We counted cookies for the bears to eat, designed our own bears and had fun dancing to many songs. 🎵 What a special treat it was to eat our lunch outside today! We made a circle and had fun playing games. Using our bears we put them in order from largest to smallest. During our playtime we gave our bears a bounce by propelling them using the parachute, such fun we have had!
