This week we had our first outdoor play session along with Mrs Kane's P1/2 children. We try to do this on a weekly basis as it helps to improve the transition for the nursery children whenever it comes to September. They really enjoyed playing alongside the older children and some even managed to find a familiar face. We will aim to do outdoor alongside Mrs Pollock's P2/3 class well on the alternate week.
In Nursery we couldn't resist having lots of fun in the snow. We wrapped up cosy warm with our coats, hats, scarves and gloves along with our wellies and headed out for some fun. We really enjoyed trying to throw snowballs at the adults and we made a great attempt at making a snowman.
On Thursday 8th January both pupils from the Nursery and Primary School were given permission to break some schools rules. The nursery children had the option of breaking one, two or all 3 of the following rules:
- Wear no school uniform
- Have crazy hair
- Come into Nursery late
The children had lots of fun taking part and even the staff in Nursery managed to break all 3 rules. Well done everyone!!
Our next school disco is on Thursday 8th February. Check our poster, designed by Year 5 pupils, for more information!
NSPCC Numeracy Day is on Friday 2nd February! To celebrate all pupils in Artigarvan will be playing maths games! A super fun maths day for a really good cause!
Our new topic for this term is Come & Join the Celebration. We have talking about different celebrations that we are familiar with such as: birthdays and weddings. We have also been learning about the Chinese New Year. The boys and girls have enjoyed watching a video to explain why we celebrate Chinese New Year and also they have been busy making lanterns and tasting noodles. With the help of Yvonne we made a great attempt at using chopsticks. It was very difficult but we tried our best.
Have a look at our photographs from Christmas 2017. Firstly we had our festive school dinner followed by a very successful school disco, helped and organised by the PTA. It was a brilliant night and we are hopeful to have many more PTA involved events in the near future.
Next was our school nativity, which this year, involved each class from the school. All of the children did a wonderful job and we are very proud of them.
What a lovely way to end the year and we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful new year.
We have all been settling into Nursery over the past few weeks. We have made lots of new friends and we enjoy playing with lots of new toys.
Enjoy having a look at all the exciting things we have been up to.
On Wednesday 28th June the nursery children had a fantastic day away to Tropical World in Letterkenny. The children really enjoyed looking at the different animals and some children were very brave and stroked a snake and bearded dragon.
The children behaved exceptionally well and listened very well to Tanya our tour guide. We all had fun and we had 24 tired little children on the way home.
Well done to everyone on a successful trip away.
